The Elephant Freedom Project- Empowering Elephants

The Elephant Freedom Project is an Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This ethically crafted experience offers a harmless, cruelty-free, engaging experience with elephants in Thailand. Endangered animals receive the utmost love, care, and protection from all project members. We are honored to welcome you to our world to share this wonderful experience with these majestic creatures.

A History of Violence and Endangerment

Ever since the inception of time, animals of all sorts have been subjected to abusive behavior at the hands of human beings. Creatures are as large as elephants and as small as birds. All have a history of torture and pain, with some species going extinct. Thailand is home to the Asian Elephants, a treasured national form of pride.  The government treats animals that are part of tourist attractions poorly and is kept under harmful conditions. There is a lack of nutritional and hygienic care for these animals as they also face violent behavior.

Due to their valuable tusks, elephants were hunted extensively in Africa to assist the illegal ivory trade, endangering the species. They have also faced the wrath of hunters in Asia and lost their habitats. With all this violence, the elephant species has faced extensive pain, so we aim to provide them sanctuary in the jungle.

Elephant Freedom Project

Elephant Freedom Project Objectives – Chiang Mai Sanctuary Asia

Our project is run exclusively by our family of five members, and we aim to spread more awareness regarding these harmless, magical, and friendly creatures—not to mention their sheer brilliance. With the Elephant Freedom Project, our guests can witness elephants in their natural habitat and bridge the gap between them and human beings. The Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai has worked for over twenty-five years to save Asian Elephants. The Nature Park comprises the Chiang Mai Elephant Sanctuary and aims to promote ethical tourism to protect wildlife and save elephants.

Elephant Freedom Project has a strict policy of not riding elephants: Ride Bicycles, Not Elephants! Many countries offer the activity of riding elephants, which may seem to be an attractive tourist activity. We believe that another shall control no living being. We do not allow our elephants to be contained in any way. Our desire is for these gentle giants to be accessible to live and roam as they would in the wild.

Elephants are majestic animals, and their trunks are unique! In our ethical tour package, you get to experience interacting with them one-on-one. They can shake hands, take in water, shoot it out, and even pick you up in their trunks! It is amazing how they function; watching them up close always leaves one in awe! Our elephants spend all their time in the wild, with our job of providing medical care when needed and assuring they have a balanced nutritional diet.

Guests to the Elephant Freedom Project sanctuary get to feed the elephants and witness how beautiful these animals are up close. You can interact with them as much as possible and see them in a harmless, natural environment. We are working diligently to reverse the damage that we, as human beings, have caused them over centuries.
