Full Day Tour

Join us for a journey of a lifetime. Our full-day tour starts with a complimentary pick-up in Chiang Mai between 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM. Our full-day tour includes preparing the elephant’s feast, feeding the elephants, an elephant jungle hike, and an elephant river hike. You will also swim and bathe with the elephants, an amazing experience. We top the day off with a wonderful waterfall experience.

It’s also important to us that you learn as much as possible about elephants and why it is important to protect them. Your Mahout guide will share his knowledge with you.

This program is fully inclusive. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Pictures and videos are included free of charge. Come experience these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

Half Day Tour Afternoon

Our half-day afternoon tour starts with an optional pick-up in Chiang Mai City between 10:15 AM – 10:45 AM. Activities begin at 12 PM with lunch with the elephants at our sanctuary, and you’ll love it. After lunch, we change into Karen clothes and prepare the elephant’s supplements. Now we will journey on an walk with the elephants along the river. Now the real fun begins, we will join the elephants in the river to swim and bathe. This is great fun.

After the river, we will take a ten-minute transport deep into the mountain and go to the waterfall, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim with fantastic scenery. The kind of location you would never find on your own. We then return to camp to feed the vitamins and supplements to the elephants, a great experience.

Your Mahout will share the names and backgrounds of the elephants. Each has been rescued from situations that were abusive.

Half Day Tour Morning

Enjoy our half-day morning tour and spend quality time with our majestic friends. This tour starts with an optional pick-up in Chiang Mai between 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM. This tour is perfect if you don’t want too much hiking or wish not to spend the entire day. It’s one thing visiting the zoo and watching the elephants. It is an entirely different experience to hike with and feed these gentle giants.

They say once an elephant meets you, it will never forget you. Brilliant is one way to describe these majestic creatures. Everything about them is impressive, each with its personality. If you’re lucky, you may be on the receiving end of a big kiss. Enjoy this time. It’s truly a wonderful experience. Join us for lunch while watching the elephants. It’s one of those experiences you will not soon forget. The owner of the Plern Home prepares lunch.

Feeding Experience

It’s one thing to visit the zoo and watch the elephants. It is an entirely different experience feeding and interacting with these gentle giants. They say once an elephant meets you, they will never forget you. Highly intelligent is one way to describe these majestic creatures.

Everything about them is amazing, each with its own personality. If you’re lucky you may be on the receiving end of a big kiss. Enjoy this time, it’s truly a wonderful experience. This experience includes preparing the elephants feast and feeding them. Tour duration is one hour.

  We had such a wonderful experience at the Elephant Freedom Project! It was amazing to spend time with the elephants in a way that felt respectful, ethical, and focused on their well-being. Our tour guide, Pat, was fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the elephants. Pat taught us so much about their behavior and care, which made the experience even more meaningful. Getting to see the elephants up close was unforgettable and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Thailand.   Really nice and special experience, definitely recommend going! We were at the afternoon program, started with lunch, then fed the elephants and went on a tour with them, where they took a bath. It was very cool to touch and walk around these huge animals! The guide was really nice, answered all our questions and took plenty of photos and videos of us. I would recommend you to give your phone to the guide to take photos and videos, so you get the desired quality. There was supposed to be a waterfall tour that we did not go to at the end, even though it was mentioned as part of the program. It was fine without, but could have been nice to see it.

  Simply put, visiting The Elephant Freedom Project is a once in a lifetime experience! These beautiful gentle giants are so magnificent to see up close and it is very clear that they are taken care of with lots of love and great care! Our guide, Pat was wonderful. He was very funny, informative and passionate about making sure we not only enjoyed our time with the elephants but that we also understood the importance of why they are here in this sanctuary. We took the full day tour and lucky us, no one else booked that day, so we had the 4 elephants all to ourselves! My family and I got to cut bananas off their stalks, hand feed them to the elephants, then walk alongside them on a hike, give them a bath and watch them enjoy the baby swimming in the river and then make medicine balls for them and feed it to them! They provided a homemade lunch for us which was very tasty and we got to visit the waterfall nearby and take some great pictures and a quick swim! The day was full of magical moments and it was a memory that my family and I will always remember when we think of Thailand. Thank you Elephant Freedom Project for such a beautiful experience.

  Wat een leuke ervaring om op deze manier (zo dichtbij!) kennis te maken met de mooie olifanten van de Sanctuary. Pat heeft ons geweldig begeleid en het eten was top. De dieren ogen erg gelukkig en worden goed verzorgd. Jullie hebben ons een mooie dag bezorgd om nooit te vergeten!
